Classes

Register online to reserve your place in one of our upcoming classes or call us at (816) 554-3755. In the case that you are using a gift certificate to register for a class, you must call our store.  All cooking classes must be paid for at time of reservation.  Please, do NOT wait to register - class sizes are extremely limited and will fill up quickly! If a class is full, please contact the store to be added to the wait list.
 
All classes are BYOB! Please feel free to bring your own wine or beer with you to enjoy with your meal. We’ll provide the glasses and openers! Water will be provided.
 
We will remain open for your private shopping during and after class.

Cancellation Policy:  If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, you must notify us at least 7 calendar days prior to the class date. We will gladly refund your class fee or transfer you to another class as long as your request is made more than 7 calendar days prior to the class date. If you discover that you are unable to attend class within the 7 days prior, we encourage you to find a substitute to take your place.  Please understand that we cannot make exceptions. Full payment is expected at time of registration.

It is time for a picnic. Everything tastes better outside, so let’s plan for a fun, delicious meal that travels easily outside to the park.  We will begin with a summer-time refreshing, icy drink. It can’t be a picnic without deviled eggs. Next, a version or two of Pan Bagnet (A 24-hour, make ahead sandwich) will make the perfect main dish and we will round the meal out with an Israeli Couscous Salad. For dessert, Lemon Poppy Seed Picnic Cake.  We will share the tips so your picnic is fun, easy, safe and attractive. $65 per person

It's summertime under the big prairie sky, the stars are out, and we're ready to dine. We'll start with Prairie Flatbread made with Kansas flour and Missouri cheeses, and Farmer's Market Salad with local greens and homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing. Make-ahead Ranchhand's Pie is a beefy take on shepherd's pie, no deliciousness lost in the translation. Save room for Somewhere Over the Rainbow Cake and ice cream. Bring a bottle of regional wine, if you like, from a Kansas or Missouri winemaker.  $65 per person

Lets all celebrate Bastille Day, or as the French call it, La fete national (The National Celebration).  It is a national holiday in France, much like our 4th of July, and celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution.  While we cannot duplicate the military parades and fireworks, we can celebrate with wonderful French food.  We will begin the class with Gougeres with chopped ham.  Then we will enjoy a Vichyssoise, which is a cold, creamy potato soup, a delicious Nicoise Salad and a seasonal vegetable gratin.  For dessert, Baked Alaska will be a mouthwatering showstopper.  $65 per person.

Join Chef Matt as he shows you a variety of different ways to prepare fresh seafood in your home. We'll start off with an appetizer of Maryland Style Crab cakes and Fresh Herb Aioli. Then we will learn how to prepare Coques St Jacque (Scallops in a Mornay Sauce, Heaven!). We will learn "and sample" how to cook a Beer Battered Halibut with a fresh slaw.  For the main course, we will learn how to sear fresh Salmon and will pair with a rice pilaf.  For Dessert, NO Fish! We will round out the dinner with a French Lemon Cream Tart and Berries.  $65 per person.

Who doesn't love breakfast for dinner.  Come join Chef Aristo for his cool Summertime Brunch menu.  We'll start with Nova Benedict- Lox with Poached Eggs & Hollandaise sauce on Rye toast points along with Sauteed Potatoes with peppers and onions.  Let's not forget about the Watermelon Salad with feta, mint, and balsamic berry glaze.  $65 per person

Indonesian Cuisine

Chef Sophia will share her family's Indonesia recipes from her childhood; grandpa's lo mein noodles, fried rice with pickled cucumbers, fried chicken, gado gado (salad with peanut sauce ), and avocado smoothies.  Yum!  $65 per person

Chop and Prep Like a Chef - Knife Skills Class

In this class, Chef Matt will teach you the fundamentals of knife skills, from how to properly hold a knife and executing classic cuts, to sharpening, cleaning and care of your knives.  You will want to bring your own Chef Knife (Yes, the Big one in the knife block) as you practice a variety of cuts in class with vegetables under Chef Matt’s direction.  We will take some breaks throughout class to enjoy some dinner and ask questions.  This class will really help you improve your ability to prepare food much quicker at home.  Don’t forget your Chef Knife!  This might be a good time to get those blades sharpened!  (Check out Ambrosi Bros. Cutlery to get your knives sharpened).  $65 per person.

Chef Sophia is excited to start this Cajun Brunch off with biscuits and andouille sausage gravy.  Not to be outdone by shrimp and grits, deviled eggs with craw fish, and Chocolate bread pudding with rum sauce for dessert.  Yum!!!  $65 per person.

Chef Cynthia will teach you the basics of Kim Chee – spicy, fermented cabbage pickles.  She'll also share her secrets to great Shrimp Pancakes, Ban Chan, and lettuce wraps with chili garlic sauce and Korean Nori.  The star of the night will surely be the Ribeye Steak Bulgogi.  $65 per person

Chef Mark will be taking on a flavor vacation to the Mediterranean tonight.  We'll start with an assorted Cheese Board and Mediterranean Salad with Couscous.  The main event will be Chicken, Artichoke and Pasta along with a Spinach and Feta Pie.  Rounding out this delicious meal will be Greek Rice Pudding.  $65 per person.

It seems that homemade bread became a delicious treat during the pandemic, and now is the time to learn all you need to know so your breads will be as delicious and as beautiful as those you see in Pinterest or Instagram photos. In this class, you will learn to make the most delicious and absolutely the easiest No Knead breads. We will feature Artisan No Knead, No Knead Honey Bread and No Knead Raisin bread. Sample all the breads and enjoy a taste with European butter. They are super simple and will definitely become your go-to, everyday recipes for family and friends. You will make a loaf to take home to bake the next day.  $55 per person

 

Flavors of Mexico

Chef Mark will treat us to a Mexican food feast tonight! Sangria will start us off along with Roasted Poblano Gazpacho. Street Tacos with Pineapple-Serrano Salsa and Grilled Flank Steak in Adobo Sauce with Lime and Cilantro Rice will make you think you're really in Mexico.  We'll finish the meal with Mexican Chocolate Pots de Creme for dessert.  $65 per person.

Pork Tenderloin Dinner

Chef Aristo has a fantastic fall dinner planned for you tonight.  The meal will include Cherry and Fig Pork Tenderloin, Swiss Chard, Smashed Red Potatoes, and Spinach and Kale Salad with Lemon Poppy seed dressing.  We'll finish off the meal with Strawberry Shortcake.  $65 per person.
