Classes

Register online to reserve your place in one of our upcoming classes or call us at (816) 554-3755. All cooking classes must be paid for at time of reservation.  Class sizes are extremely limited and tend to fill up quickly...If a class is full, please contact the store to be added to a wait list.  **If you are considering purchasing a class as a gift, we highly encourage you to purchase a gift certificate instead so that the recipient can select the menu and date that works best for them.**
 
All classes are BYOB! Please feel free to bring your own wine or beer with you to enjoy with your meal. We’ll provide the glasses and openers! Water/tea will be provided.  We will remain open for your private shopping during class.  

Cancellation Policy:  We have a strict 7 day cancellation policy.  We will gladly refund your class fee or transfer you to another class as long as your request is made more than 7 calendar days prior to the class date. If you discover that you are unable to attend class within the 7 days prior, we encourage you to find a substitute to take your place. Please understand that we cannot make exceptions.

Join Chef Matt as we ring in the Holidays with a Fun and Festive Dinner. We will start, upon arrival, with an individual Brie en Croute (puff pastry) with an Apricot and Cranberry Chutney. The soup for the evening is New England Style Clam Chowder with oyster crackers. The salad to following our soup will be a Crisp Romaine with Apples, Candied Pecans, Honey Vinaigrette, and Goat Cheese. The Entree for the evening is a Wood Fired and Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef with Horseradish Sauce and au Jus, White Cheddar Potatoes Dauphinoise (Scalloped), and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. The dessert will be a Nutella Creme Brulee caramelized on the spot (Chef Matt will even teach you to do your own if you like!).

Join us as we delve into her cookbooks and share insights into her culinary genius. We will begin with Creamy Potato Fennel Soup, a perfect soup for a cold winter evening. The dinner will feature Filet Mignon with Mustard and Mushrooms, accompanied by Garlic Mashed Potatoes and French String Beans. Her desserts are always spectacular, so we will end this delectable dinner with one of her unbeatable sweets. Cannoli Workshop (Hands On)

Spend the afternoon with Chef Francesca and learn how to make a popular Italian fried pastry- cannoli. Be prepared to get to make this wonderful dessert, and then you get to help her stuff them with different Ricotta cheese fillings. Be sure to bring your apron and a small container for some leftover cannoli shells to bring home! Snacks and coffee will be provided.

Intro to Buttercream Piping/Cupcake Decorating

Buttercream decorating can be tricky if you're unfamiliar with how to hold a piping bag and what all those metal tips are used for. Don't fret! This is the class where we'll focus on how to make delicious American buttercream, fill a piping bag, apply the just the right pressure and angle to create beautiful textures and designs on your desserts. While most of the class will be spent becoming familiar with technique, we'll finish off the class with testing out what you've learned on a dozen cupcakes for you to take home. Watch out! You'll be volunteering to bring cupcakes for every get together, work party, or birthday gathering so you can show off the skills you acquire. This class is full of fun and knowledge for beginner cake decorators or for those who need a refresher. All materials will be provided to take the class including a box for participants to take their finished cupcakes home.  $75 per person

Restaurants and chefs love to cook steak in a cast iron skillet. We will share the secrets to searing steak in cast iron and we bet you will never go back to the grill. We will begin with Steak with Herb Butter. Creamy Potatoes and Leeks also feature our beloved cast iron skillet but taste like no other potato dish you have ever had. We will continue to showcase the cast iron skillet with a delicious summer cast iron vegetable medley and round out the meal with salad and of course a delicious dessert. Be sure to come hungry! Bring your cast iron questions and we will answer them all. That black skillet will no longer be a mystery.

7 Course Italian Valentine's Dinner

Red Velvet Cake seems to be a favorite but often perplexes many cake lovers because they
can’t figure it out; if it’s not a red chocolate cake, then what is it?! We’ll talk briefly about the cake’s origins then get busy with learning how to put together our own take on this southern classic. We’ll be pairing tender and moist Red Velvet layers with a surprise cheesecake mousse and finishing our creations with the perfect cream cheese buttercream. You’ll leave having learned how to stack, fill, crumb-coat, and apply the final layer of buttercream and simple buttercream decoration. Don’t worry, we’ll practice before piping on your cake. This class is full of fun and knowledge for beginner cake decorators or for those who need a refresher. Evening in Paris

The foods of Paris are truly memorable and this special dinner will be no different—yet doesn’t require a passport or expensive plane ticket. You know us, we love Julia Child, and we will feature some of her recipes as well as some of our other culinary favorites and have lots of stories to share! We will begin with one of Julia Child’s salads with a classic French Vinaigrette. Beef Wellington will take center stage. (If you thought this famous dish was English, we have a story for you! Come find out more about the history of French filet de boeuf en croute, the Battle of Waterloo and a famous Duke.) We will serve the dish with mashed potatoes and zucchini gratin, in true French style. For dessert, Meringue Chantilly. Paris is a city of love so join us for this incredible dinner.  $85 per person

You may have noticed recipes that include coffee for chocolate desserts but what about beer? Believe it or not, this dark stout beer complements chocolate in a similar way by creating a rich caramel-y intensity. Let’s pair those dark layers with an Irish Cream buttercream and see if rainbows or gold appear; shall we? Rachel will teach you to stack, fill, crumb-coat, and apply the final smooth layer of buttercream then decorate this dark, fudgy cake. Don’t worry, we’ll practice before piping on your cake. While the math and science communities celebrate Pi Day (in honor of that perplexing, unending number that began 3.14) we are going to celebrate all things pie! Even the US Congress declared March 14 as National Pi Day, so today, pie shops and food media share all kinds of delicious pies! Now you can celebrate, too, and enjoy all kinds of pies, from appetizer pie and savory main dish pie to scrumptious dessert pie! Of course, we will begin with the crust and answer all of your questions about the pastry. Then, on to an appetizer, Caramelized Onion Galette. Our delicious main dish will be a Chicken Pot Pie, flavored with leeks and thyme. For dessert, will be feature a classic, two-crust apple pie and amazing one-crust, Chocolate Cream Pie.
