Register online to reserve your place in one of our upcoming classes or call us at (816) 554-3755. All cooking classes must be paid for at time of reservation.  Please, do NOT wait to register - class sizes are extremely limited and will fill up quickly! If a class is full, please contact the store to be added to the wait list.
 
All classes are BYOB! Please feel free to bring your own wine or beer with you to enjoy with your meal. We’ll provide the glasses and openers! Water will be provided.
 
We will remain open for your private shopping during and after class.

Cancellation Policy:  If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, you must notify us at least 7 calendar days prior to the class date. We will gladly refund your class fee or transfer you to another class as long as your request is made more than 7 calendar days prior to the class date. If you discover that you are unable to attend class within the 7 days prior, we encourage you to find a substitute to take your place. Please understand that we cannot make exceptions. Full payment is expected at time of registration.

Chop and Prep Like a Chef/ Knife Skills
Saturday, August 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM 

In this class, Chef Matt will teach you the fundamentals of knife skills, from how to properly hold and execute the classic cuts, to sharpening, cleaning and care. In this class, he will demonstrate how to cu t a variety of different meats for cooking, fresh fruits and vegetables, and a few tricks for carving different foods for garnish! We will take some breaks throughout class to enjoy some dinner, and ask questions. This class will really help you improve your ability to prepare food much quicker at home. Please bring your chef knife to this class! It is recommended you take the first class before this to gain basic skills if you are a novice.

For the Love of (Street) Tacos

Today, Chef Sophia will show the tricks, and share the tips, for how to make Awesome Tacos in different varieties at home. You will learn how to prepare Shredded Chicken "Tinga" Tacos, sooo good! Have you ever wondered how they get those chunks of Carnitas so tender? Well Chef Sophia is going to show you how, and finish off a batch with all the accompaniments like salsa,pickle onions, and cremas. We have to cover the most popular taco of all, Carne Asada with it's crisp crust of marinated steak grilled to perfection. You will enjoy some roasted street corn to accompany these yummy Tacos.

A Feast of Asian Noodles

Noodles a staple of cuisines such as Chinese, Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese. These versatile pastas come in many shapes and sizes and can be made from wheat flour or rice flour. But what do they actually taste like? Chef Sophai will show you how to make Fresh Cool Vietnamese Shrimps Spring Rolls with a Peanut dipping sauce. Then you will get to sample a Japanese Soba Noodle Dish that is oh so good! Next, Chef Sophia will show you how to build a simple, but Awesome Ramen bowl like you would order in a fine restaurant with braised pork belly and 6 minute egg.  A traditional Dish of Korean Noodles called japchae with shredded beef and vegetables. Also noodle for dessert?

The local farmers’ market is filled with fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as herbs, meat, chicken and more. This class will focus on those delicious, fresh ingredients—whether from the market or your own garden. We will begin with a cucumber-basil dressing on tomatoes. A refreshing watermelon cooler will cleanse your palate. Then enjoy Summer Chicken Parmesan with Cherry Tomatoes and Zucchini, accompanied by Orzo with Roasted Vegetables.  For dessert, there will be a delicious Cast Iron Peach Crostata.

Chef Francesca will show you many takes on her favorite Italian dish, PASTA e sugo!! You will learn to make tasty sauces to wow your own dinner guests. Dinner will be: Her momma’s Sunday Pasta and Meatballs, Sugo con Hard-Boiled Eggs and Eggplant, Meat Sugo with Rice and Peas, and Fresh Roma tomato Marinara Penne. Salad, fresh Italian bread, and a Mocha Mousse dessert to finish.

Hands On Sushi

It's time for a Sushi party! Come learn how to roll Sushi with Chef Sophia Chatfield as she teaches you the basic, and some new trending techniques. You will learn about Sushi, and where to shop for the "good stuff" in the Kansas City. Students will make several different rolls throughout the night to practice their new Sushi Skills. This is a hands on class, come prepared to have a blast and get rolling with it.

Salt, Fat, Acid and Heat

The acclaimed cookbook, Salt, Fat, Acid and Heat, by Samin Nosrat explores the key aspects every cook needs to know to be able to quickly and easily prepare the very best meals and now has become a popular TV show on Netflix. Everyone will enjoy tasting her recipes, but more importantly, you will leave the class empowered to become an even better cook. We will begin with The Greenest Green Salad with Green Goddess Dressing. Her Buttermilk Roast Chicken is unbeatable, and we will accompany it with Herbed Rice. Butternut Squash is the basis of an ideal autumn side dish and for dessert enjoy Moira's Caramel Brownies. Easy meals never tasted so good.

Italian Steak Sandwich Dinner

Chef Francesca says, “My grown boys still ask me to make these all the time!” Delicious breaded Italian steak is drenched in marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese, and then toasted. Chef Francesca will also show you how to make two easy side dishes, Lemony Broccoli and Italian Tomato Onion Salad. Like her traditional family dinners often end, she will make fresh brewed espresso with an authentic coffee pot and frothy cream. She will serve up some famous Cucidati (fig) cookies too!

Karli and Matt have been doing "Karli in The Kitchen" cooking demos for over 5 years now on Fox4 Mornings. Tonight you can join local TV personality Karli (Fox4) and Chef Matt in the "Mexican Kitchen" as we discover some their favorite Taqueria recipes! We will start off the evening with a fresh Taqueria Style Salsa with some warm corn tortillas for dipping. Karli knows how to whip up some delicious seafood, and she is going to show you how to make a great Coastal Latin Style Shrimp Ceviche. Then Chef Matt will show you how to craft Grilled Chicken Street Tacos, with a duo of sauces, Salsa Verde, and Rojo. They will serve Roasted Papas and Chipotle Black Beans, family style. For Dessert, you will indulge in some seasonal Caramel Apple Empanadas and ice cream to cap the Experience! That's one Caliente Menu!

Prepare to spend an elegant 7-course meal with Chef Francesca. It will be a dinner experience and not a “cooking class”. With Italian music playing in the background, you will start with Caprese Salad Bites & Julienne Veggies in a creamy dip, Zuppa Tuscana with Garlic Herbed Crostini, Italian Salad with Balsamic Glaze dressing, Mozzarella Crusted Baked Ziti, and Fish en Papillote, Mediterranean style. She will finish the evening with a variety of Italian Cheeses and fruits, espresso, and her homemade Cream Puffs.

Chef Francesca will make Artichoke and Pea soup, Italian Sausage Tortellini soup, and Lentil and Spinach soup just like her momma did years ago when meat was too expensive for their big Italian families. Come taste three different soups and learn how to make them with recipes written down from memory. Smells of fresh baked Rosemary Herb Focaccia bread will fill the room as we enjoy the evening! Join Chef Matt and Karli for a Culinary Getaway to the Hawaiian Islands where you will indulge in the flavors of paradise! We will start off with Fresh Poke on Crispy Wontons with Avocado Aioli. For the Salad, we will compose some wonderful flavors over greens with Coconut Lime dressing, macadamias, and fresh mango. For our Entrée will learn how to make Huli Huli Chicken from Karli’s Hawaiian Family recipe, and serve it up with some fresh grilled Golden Pineapple, and we gotta have some Homemade Macaroni Salad! Spend the evening with Chef Francesca and learn how to make a popular Italian fried pastry- cannoli. Be prepared to get to make this wonderful dessert, and then you get to help her stuff them with different Ricotta cheese fillings. Kicking off the Christmas season, the aroma will be wonderful, This evening will be busy, but fun. Be sure to bring your apron and a small container for some leftover cannoli shells to bring home!

Chef Francesca wants to share some wonderful foods that were served during her family’s Christmas and New Year holiday dinners. These recipes come from her Sicilian grandma and should not be missed. We will start with a simple Italian salad with a balsamic and olive oil dressing. Then the fun begins. Begin with a stuffed artichoke while she fries up Arancini (rice balls), and finish with Braciole (stuffed round steak). For dessert, homemade Italian cookies and espresso.
