Classes/Events

Register online to reserve your place in one of our upcoming classes or call us at (816) 554-3755. All cooking classes must be paid for at time of reservation.  Class sizes are extremely limited and tend to fill up quickly...If a class is full, please contact the store to be added to a wait list.  **If you are considering purchasing a class as a gift, we highly encourage you to purchase a gift certificate instead so that the recipient can select the menu and date that works best for them.**
 
All classes are BYOB! Please feel free to bring your own wine or beer with you to enjoy with your meal. We’ll provide the glasses and openers! Water/tea will be provided.  We will remain open for your private shopping during class.  All classes are 18+.

Cancellation Policy:  We have a strict 7 day cancellation policy.  We will gladly refund your class fee or transfer you to another class as long as your request is made more than 7 calendar days prior to the class date. If you discover that you are unable to attend class within the 7 days prior, we encourage you to find a substitute to take your place. Please understand that we cannot make exceptions.

Imagine strolling along the Seine, enjoying the sights on the incredible riverbank and picturesque river traffic, walking past the iconic Paris landmarks, then shopping in the luxurious shops on the on Champs-Élysées. This class invites you to stop at one of the many quaint cafes you pass along the way.  We begin with salmon rillettes, and for those not familiar with this classic French appetizer you are in for a treat. We will feature Chicken Provencal, a fantastic chicken dish featuring herbs and vermouth. Of course, roasted potatoes accompany it because no stroll in Paris takes you far away from the wafting, inviting aroma of that favorite side dish. Carottes rôties au thyme, the most amazing French roasted carrots complete the meal. No French menu is complete without a show-stopping dessert and tonight that is gateau au fromage et au citron, a wonderful Lemon Cheesecake on a buttery shortbread crust. This class captures the delectable flavors of Paris, and even though you won’t need a passport, you can discover it is truly a magical city with an unsurpassed cuisine. Join us for a fun dinner as we discuss the tips and tricks to making some Championship level BBQ Fare in your own backyard! We will start the evening with an appetizer of Smoked Chicken Empanadas with Chili Verde. It's still warm outside, so let's craft a nice Crisp Salad with grilled onions, Avocado, Heirloom Tomatoes, some great cheese, and a Smoky Chipotle Buttermilk Dressing. For the Entree, we will learn about composing BBQ Rubs, homemade BBQ Sauce, and apply those to a duo of Brisket and Pulled Pork. For the sides, I gotta make some of Mom's Skillet Potatoes to go along, and some Mexican Street Corn Sauté. The Dessert to finish the evening will be Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream with Fresh Berry Compote on top!   $80 per person

You will learn about Sushi, and where to shop for the "good stuff" in the Kansas City. Students will make several different rolls throughout class to practice their new Sushi Skills. This is a hands on class, come prepared to have a blast and get rolling with a Chef who has taught more than 100+ Sushi classes!  $80 per person

Come hungry, with apron in hand, and prepare to enjoy a fun, flavorful evening! A refreshing salad and Affogato desert will be served, too!!  $80 per person. 

New German Cuisine

Join us tonight as we indulge in some new trends of German cuisine that you will find fresh, flavorful, and lighter. We will start the evening with an appetizer of Garlic Shrimp Skewer with a White Wine Sauce and Sourdough Toast Points. Salad for the evening will be crisp Romaine with Dried Apricots, Candied Walnuts, Hard Cooked Egg, Goat Cheese, and a Homemade Dressing. Entree for the evening is Hard-Seared Beef Striploin Steak with a Garlic and Herb Maitre D Butter, Roasted Asparagus with Carrots, and Pan Toasted Spätzle. Thyme for Paris in Autumn

Join Chef Glen tonight for this stroll through Paris on an Autumn evening.  We'll begin with a classic Nicoise Salad, including fresh tuna, eggs, french beans, new potatoes, olives and fresh basil; to be followed by French Pumpkin soup with toasted seeds and seasoned croutons.  The main event will be Braised Short Ribs Forestier with fire roasted tomatoes and while mushrooms; accompanied by creamy potato gratin with gruyere cheese and collards greens with smoked bacon and sweet onion.  We'll finish off this decadent dinner with Chocolate Eclairs.  $90 per person. 

Latin American Cuisine

Join Chef Sophia tonight as she treats you to a dinner celebrating the flavors of Latin American cuisine!  We'll start with chorizo and white bean soup along with a Brazilian Chopped Salad and Tortilla Espanola.  Ropa Vieja (Cuban beef stew with rice, black beans, and fried plaintain) and Pao de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) for the main course and we'll finish the evening with Pastelitos (Guava creme cheese puff pastry).  $80 per person

Edgar Allen Poe Dinner Party

Gather by candlelight for a Poe-inspired evening of food, drink, and verse. Join Chef Francesca as she serves a spooky signature cocktail, hauntingly heavy hors d’oeuvres, and an eerily decadent dessert and espresso, all while the chilling words of Edgar Allan Poe drift through the room. Bring your own collection of Poe’s works to share—or simply sit back and savor the night’s dark delight.  $80 per person. 

Cruising Down the Rhine

This incredible class invites you to cruise down the Rhine River as we share recipes from the cities and countries that famed European river flows through.  What a delicious night it will be!  For the first stop, let’s begin with the Alsace region of France for a classic Tarte Flambée, a pizza inspired by both the French and Germans. As the evening continues, we dock in Germany and Switzerland and just like a cruise that offers lots of food, we can’t decide on just one entrée, so why not enjoy a little of both? A German Himmel und Erde (Heaven and Earth, made from mashed potatoes and apples) with a side of Bratwurst and or Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, a classic, creamy Swiss stew, served with crispy potato pancakes. For dessert, let’s stop in the Netherlands to enjoy Appeltaart (Apples, cinnamon, buttery crust, what’s not to love?).  We can’t wait to shout “All-Aboard” and dine on this world-wide feast.  $80 per person

Chicken and Spinach Gnocchi– A velvety, comforting soup served with golden herbed crostini

Polpettine di Verdure – Delicate crispy vegetable meatballs nestled alongside fresh mixed greens and crisp fennel salad 

Spaghetti All’Assassina – A bold, pan-seared pasta and burrata specialty with irresistible depth of flavor

London Broil al Sole – Sun-dried tomato marinated London broil, paired with almond-kissed garlic green beans

A Thanksgiving Pie Workshop

Join us for everything pie!  We begin with a hands-on pie crust class, and yes, you make your own crust, ready to take home and bake. We want to erase the mystic from those troublesome crusts and help you go home with the know-how and confidence you need to make tender, delicious crusts. We aren’t done yet, for a pie feast awaits you as you taste an array of pies. You will first enjoy a savory autumn quiche, featuring caramelized onions, spinach and gruyere. Then, on to sampling those comforting, favorite fall pies—including a classic pumpkin pie, maple pecan pie and an apple cranberry crumb pie. These recipes will inspire you to prepare a Thanksgiving that is unforgettable.  $80 per person  

Holiday Tea Party Time

Our annual Holiday Tea class is truly a celebration of the season and is the perfect evening to enjoy with friends or family or that special evening with your date. It is an evening packed with fun, laughter, holiday cheer and scrumptious food for all to enjoy. This event is in the style of a classic, English tea—so come hungry as the plentiful array of sweet and savory recipes will be served in multiple courses, creating a plentiful feast. Plus, you leave with all of the recipes and tips, so you can easily host your own special party or bake a tasty holiday gift for someone special. Our teas begin with scones, served with clotted cream and our own homemade strawberry jam, then you will enjoy an array of unforgettable appetizers and sweets.
