Cooking school Class Schedule

 

How to register - Call us at the shop (816)554-3755 for your reservation.  All cooking classes must be paid for at time of reservation.  Please, don't wait to register!  We have minimums and maximums for each class, we don't want you to miss out!

Cancellation Policy - We are happy to honor requests for refunds or transfers to another class as long as it is made more than seven (7) calendar days prior to the class date.  We encourage you to find a substitute should you discover that you are unable to attend within the seven (7) days prior to class.  Please understand that we cannot make exceptions.  We have a minimum number of students required in order for a class to occur.  We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, in which a full refund will be given. 

Full payment is expected at time of registration. Bad Weather Policy - We will make a determination no later than 2 hours prior to a class and will make every attempt to notify you by phone at the phone number you provide us upon registration and/or email.  If we are not able to speak with you in person, we will leave a message.  We encourage you to call us if in doubt. Unless you hear from us the class will be held

One of the hottest cake trends currently is the "naked cake".  You will observe award winning Chef Andrea Britt-Adams make a from-scratch Yellow Cake, Limoncello Curd and Swiss Meringue Buttercream.  She will then show you how to assemble the cake incorporating fresh berries.  You will make your own 6" round.  This is great class for first beginners.  No supplies needed.  Box included.

Learn how to bake a simple scratch White Cake and watch Andrea whip up a batch of Swiss Meringue Buttercream.  Then she will make a Strawberry Puree that is perfect for a Spring or Summer dessert.  Demosnstration on how to assemble cake.  The twist is learrning how to use that same strawberry puree to make other esasy desserts and even a salad dressing!  Samples provided from each recipe.

Hands On Fabulous Flatbreads

With a bowl of no-knead dough on hand, you can sail through summer with a different flatbread every day of the week.  It can be the star of the show, an appetizer, or an accompaniment.  You can bake it, grill it outdoors, or grill it indoors on a grill griddle.  And everybody loves flatbread!   We'll make our own bowl of dough (bring a medium bowl), let it rise, and then put it through its paces. We'll pat a flatbread in a pan (bring 9x13-inch pan) and top it with your choice of ingredients to bake at home.  We'll also knead in some tasty goodies in another batch; and finally, we'll do an authentic Afghan flatbread with a cilantro/green onion filling that we'll grill.  With a salad, we'll enjoy all 3 flatbreads.

My husband is a farmer.  My husband is a vegetable farmer that grows tomatoes....Lots and lots of them!  Delicious tasting purple, green, yellow, pink, white and red ones!    It doesn't matter because we love them all!  As a farm wife, I love to celebrate the season by preparing our abundant crop in many different ways.  If you love tomatoes, then this is the class for you!  While learning about how to pick out the perfect fruit and different heirloom varieties, we'll taste some favorite tomato recipes from my collection.  Gaspacho with basil oil, Southern Tomato Pie, Marinated Tomatoes, Watermelon and Tomato Salad and delicious Herbed Couscous topped with a Fresh Tomato Saute.  I'm headed to Tomato Town!  Are you coming with me!
